What is your name/title?

My name is Mrs. Christal Marie Hawes.

Where are you originally from? Where did you grow up? When did you move here?

I’m originally from Guilford, ME. Which is where I grew up and graduated from. I moved to Winthrop over five years ago when I met my now husband. Winthrop has a lot more opportunities, and was closer to larger towns.

Where did you attend high school, if you attended college where did you go?

I went to high school at Piscataquis Community High School in Guilford, ME. Currently I’m attending college at Kennebec Valley Community College in Fairfield, ME.

Tell me a little about your background and your education?

I worked for a certified nursing assistant for almost years, where I found myself needing a career change. As a first time mom, I knew I needed a better schedule/life balance for my daughter and I. That when I decided I wanted to change my major to early childhood major.

Have you ever taught in childcare/preschool before (tell me about it)?

I have not, but I have done caretaking for a child whose daycares were closed.

Are you married? Do you have any children (ex. include their names/ages)?

Yes, I am married. It will be three years in September! I do have one child, her name is Adelaine and she is 3.9 years old.

Do you have any pets (what are their names)?

We currently have no pets at home.

What are you hobbies and interests (ex. how do you spend your free time when you not teaching)?

When I’m not teaching I really enjoy crafting. I enjoy paper crafting with my cricut in order to make decorations, invitations, and cards. Other than crafting I enjoy my time being a mom to my daughter Adelaine.
