Miss Miranda

What is your name/title?
Miranda Heutz
Where are you originally from? Where did you grow up? When did you move here?
I am originally from Greene, but I grew up in Lewiston as we moved there when I was young. However, about three years ago we moved to Turner and I have been living there ever since.
Where did you attend high school, if you attended college where did you go?
I attended high school at Lewiston High School, and am in my junior year of college at the University of Southern Maine.
Tell me a little about your background and your education?
In high school I “worked” as a student teacher in my school’s preschool where I learned about child development, taught in the classroom, and was asked to comeback as second year to help assist my teacher in running the preschool. I am in school to be an occupational therapist, and have taken college level child development courses as well as anatomy.
Have you ever taught in childcare/preschool before (tell me about it)?
Yes I have, I taught as a student teacher in a preschool where I created lesson plans and implemented when I was the lead teacher. I was also the lead teacher for the preschool classroom at a daycare center and enjoyed filling the day with engaging and educational activities for the children. I also was a child development teacher for a mommy and me class.
Are you married? Do you have any children (ex. include their names/ages)?
No I’m not married and I do not have any children.
Do you have any pets (what are their names)?
Yes I do, I have a cat named Bentley and a dog named Pellet.
What are you hobbies and interests (ex. how do you spend your free time when you not teaching)?
I like to swim, spend time with family and friends, go for a walk with my dog, bake, and going shopping.
Why do you want to work with infants/children?
I want to work with infants/children because their excitement and appreciation for the small things in life is refreshing and being able to assist and have a part in their development is so rewarding.
What do you think is/will be the best part of working with young children?
I think the best part of working with young children is that they remind you to appreciate the little moments and to be present. They will point out small details and find excitement/joy in the world around them in something that you may have never noticed otherwise. I also believe that helping young children build the foundational skills they will rely on for the rest of their life is fulfilling.
